Mediation

Family conflict comes in many forms and affects us all in different ways. Sometimes these disputes cause great stress and deep resentment, and can seem impossible to resolve. A neutral, third party may be able to help.

We provide a full range of mediation services to assist individuals and families in finding flexible and lasting solutions to their family and relationship disputes.

Our services are flexible and cost effective, allowing you the opportunity to resolve issues privately in the one forum, without going to court.

What is mediation?

Mediation is a confidential and relatively informal negotiation process where you and the other parties to a dispute (for example, family members/whanau, ex-partners or guardians) use the services of a skilled and independent mediator to help them.

The mediator is an impartial person that you can trust and feel comfortable around, and who will help you with:

  1. Defining your issues
  2. Exploring settlement options, and
  3. Negotiating a mutually acceptable settlement, that is formally written into an agreement.

Mediation is a consensual process, so we cannot make anyone participate if they don't want to.
